On Wednesday, October 7th, the FABulous project co-delivered an industry focused webinar alongside our sister projects Sure2Coat, CLASCO, SYNTECS and BILASURF. The webinar was on the topic of Functional Surfaces: Industry-Focused Use Cases and brought together experts and innovators from across Europe to explore the latest advances and real-world applications emerging from cutting-edge research.
The five pioneering projects, all funded under the Horizon Europe Twin Transition-01-02 call, took centre stage to present their objectives, use cases, and emerging results. With an audience of 80 participants, representing diverse sectors and disciplines, the session offered an opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
The presentations were followed by a thought-provoking Q&A session. Attendees raised challenging and insightful questions on topics such as the expected performance of new technologies in commercial environments, strategies for ensuring quality assurance and quality control, and the pursuit of first-time right manufacturing processes. The discussion also delved into the complexities of achieving real-time automation and control in advanced production systems, a key hurdle for industrial adoption.
